Sewing Courses

Professional training in seweing for 18 adults in two community centers in Netanya

Rationale

Having come from a very different environment, some Ethiopian immigrants lack the know-how or required skills to find employment in their new setting, as well as the means for re-education or attending vocational courses. The result is poverty, delayed integration, loss of self-esteem, and the respect of their children. Integrated sewing courses for adults from all sectors who need employable skills can provide these needed skills, along with a social hub enhancing integration, community cohesion, and improving employment eligibility.

Objectives

Teaching professional sewing to provide participants with an employable skill, as well as a social framework

Results

  • All feel that learning to sew helps them in their daily life.
  • All feel that the course makes them feel better about themselves
  • All feel that they are learning to sew useful items at home.
