ESRA Hiking Club invites you to join us again this year for another 2-day Hiking Experience.
Following the winter rains, and as spring blooms, we’ll set out on 2 days of amazing hiking in the
Dead Sea area, with a delightful overnight stay at the outstanding Leonardo Plaza Hotel, Dead Sea.
Day 1 Hike
We start with a climb up Mount Peres, with fantastic views of the northern Arava, southern Dead Sea and Gilead
Mountains. We continue above Nahal Peres until we cross it, and onto the Peres Pools (no swimming). We will
follow the desert plateau to the top of Mitzpe Tzurim, followed by a long descent to the Amiaz Plain, to finish at the Naot Hakikar Junction, just 15 minutes’ drive to the hotel. 15 klm. Moderate Hard – but stunning!
Day 2 Hike
We will be close by to start early with a gentle, short climb to Mitzpeh Tamar. The descent will lead us to the course of Nahal Tzafit, which we will cross, and then ascend again until we reach the rim of the Machtesh HaKatan for a stunning viewpoint. A long descent then follows to the crater bottom, passing a delightful range of sandstone colors. We will hike the floor of the Machtesh to meet the bus at the crater entrance. 15 klm. Hard – but amazing!

- Luxury Coach – attached to the group for all travel needs

-Overnight stay at the Leonardo Plaza Hotel, Dead Sea
-Nestled between the rugged desert and the therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea, the hotel offers a unique blend of tranquility and modern amenities in Neve Zohar. All rooms have been recently renovated and offer stunning views of the magical Dead Sea. Each is furnished to provide utmost comfort with stylish décor and essential amenities, including air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The hotel's direct access to the Dead Sea, combined with saltwater and freshwater pools under the shade of palm trees, will ensure us a refreshing post hike experience – and we will time our arrival on day 1 to enjoy pre-dinner swim time!

- Three Kosher meals are included: extensive meat buffet dinner; full Israeli breakfast plus individual packed
lunch boxes, water and snacks to go for the 2 nd day. Vegetarian/vegan and/or special options available.
All you’ll have to bring is water, a packed breakfast and lunch for day 1 – as normal.

These prices are for ESRA members only. Annual membership is NIS 160.
Booking
- Please note that booking and final payment will close on 9 th February 2025 – at the latest.
- Please select your preferred option - sharing a double room or a single room.
- For those sharing a room, please inform Lawrence of room partners.
- Bus pick ups will be in at: Netanya - Beit Yehoshua train station, Raanana Mercaz Klita and Yad Binyamin.
As normal, we will be starting out early and exact times of pick-ups, will be coordinated nearer the time. For additional pick-up locations – please speak to Lawrence.
- Cancellation Fee: 10% up to 72 hours prior to the trip. After this time, no refund is available, as we will be committed to pay for the hotel accommodation, meals and all costs.
Numbers are limited, and following previous year’s success,demand is sure to be high amongst our regular hikers! So, book early to avoid disappointment!
ESRA hikes are suitable for people in good health. We reserve the right to refuse participation on the hikes to any person who does not come properly equipped or is not physically capable of making the distance.
