The iconic Broadway musical, “Oklahoma!” is this season’s production by The Light Opera Group of the Negev (LOGON). Written by the legendary duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, “Oklahoma!” is one of the most popular musicals of all time.
The story is set in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, and centers on the romantic entanglements of Curly, a cowboy, and Laurey, a farm girl, amidst the backdrop of Oklahoma’s impending statehood.
“Oklahoma!” was the first musical to thoroughly integrate songs, story, and dance. The music is a key reason for the show’s lasting popularity. Unforgettable songs like “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” “People Will Say We’re in Love” and the titular “Oklahoma!” are standards in the American musical repertoire.
Music by Richard Rodgers, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs. Original Choreography by Agnes de Mille.
The production is in English with Hebrew subtitles.
