Our search for the "fountain of youth", the fountain that everyone who drinks from its waters rejuvenates, has been with humanity for thousands of years. Behind this longing lies not only the hope of eternal life but, even more so, of a healthy and fruitful life without the characteristic inflictions and diseases of old age. While medical advances in recent decades have led to a significant increase in life-span, the increase in health-span has lagged behind. In this lecture we will discuss the science of ageing, and introduce the works of researchers who have set the goal of eradicating the burdens of aging by delaying aging itself.
