Hundreds of thousands of Jews in Spain, Portugal and the Americas were, on pain of death, forced into another identity and had to live a lie. After suffering a confusion of identity for hundreds of years, many of these Conversos or Crypto Jews are emerging to reclaim their identity.
Since making aliyah about 25 years ago, Bonita Posen has been delivering popular talks throughout Israel on Jewish and other types of literature. She is particularly interested in the historical context, and sometines, history becomes the primary focus.
