ESRA Hike

Israel's first ‘smart’ trail goes from Tiberias to Bet Shearim in the Lower Galilee. This new trail will bring hikers back in history to the second temple period more than 2000 years ago when the great Sanhedrin, the authority of sages, was active in this region.

Hikers will have access to an innovative augmented reality-based smartphone application that will virtually reconstruct heritage sites.

We start the hike from Bet Shearim and hike down to Usha near Kiryat Tivon, we will hike through Bedouin villages down to Nachal Tzpori. We travel along the trail very close to the monk's mill and then onto Ras Ali onto a new Tayelet with picturesque views of this beautiful countryside.

Pick up points:
6:45 | Raanana - Mercaz Klita (car park)
7:00 | Beit Yehoshua Train Station
For other pick-up points please call Lawrence 054 773 4394 (up to 21st April) or Stephen 058 627 5427 (after 21st April).
Stephen Kliner will lead this hike in place of Lawrence.

Please look out for any last minute changes due to weather conditions.

Hikers should come properly prepared for each hike: plenty of water (2 litres per person in normal weather, at least 3 litres per person if it’s hot), good walking boots or shoes, change of clothes/towel if swimming, hat, sunscreen and food for breakfast & lunch in a backpack. Walking poles optional, but useful.
ESRA hikes are suitable for people in good health. We reserve the right to refuse participation on the hike to any person who does not come properly equipped or is not physically capable of making the distance.

Proceeds support ESRA Education and Welfare Community projects to strengthen Israeli society. Read more
