The Renaissance is a unique period in European culture; a time of formation of modern Europe with its attitude to the world and man, with its confidence in the power of human action, and its individualism. In this talk we will find out what is special about the Florentine Renaissance; we will get acquainted with the principal features of Renaissance humanism and with the main ideas of the Florentine
humanists. We will also have a look at the masterpieces of painting and sculpture created by the geniuses of the Florentine Renaissance.
Dr.Tamara Polubesova is recently retired from the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her research interests are physical chemistry of soils and minerals, soil interface reactions and environmental chemistry, and her avocation is the history and culture of Western Europe.
