Gershon Wachtel is a classically trained pianist who has been entertaining the public for over 50 years. His first paying assignment entailed playing piano for fashion shows at age eleven, when he received $5.00 per afternoon performance! Originally from Toronto, Gershon and his wife, Chaya, have called Jerusalem their home since 2014.
Before the pandemic he and Chaya held weekly concerts in their home, where he plays on his beautiful 1901 Steinway grand piano; while Chaya has become known as “the camera girl.”
His selections include a very diverse genre of music including pop, oldies, Broadway show tunes, classical, traditional Hebrew songs, and anything in between. Gershon plays with great passion and originality, while his music seems to become an extension of his soul. In addition, Gershon often shares small tidbits of stories from his past as well as information on Jewish customs.
