Professor Tal's career has been a balance between academia and public interest advocacy. He served as a member of Knesset between 2021-2022 on behalf of the Blue and White party. Previously he was professor and chair of the Department of Public Policy at Tel Aviv University. He has founded several environmental organizations and has served as deputy chair of the international Jewish National Fund and co-chair of Zafuf, the Israel Forum for Population, Environment and Society. Between 2010 and 2013 Tal served as chair of Israel’s green party - “the Green Movement”.
