We begin with the hike in Yeruham and immediately we are in the Negev desert. Yeruham was named after the biblical personality Jeroham. For many years Yeruham was a depressed development town. In the last 20 years due to the different mayors who have improved the town, it has become a popular place to live. It was founded in 1951 by Romanians and has recently had a large influx of Russians. We hike along the trail which has many erosion craters, rare flowers, and wonderful desert views. We hike along to Nahal Shulim and onto Park Yeruham which has 300 dunams of parkland trails and lakes a veritable oasis in the desert.
